Web Developer

Ben is a web developer with 20 years‘ experience building and maintaining websites, systems, databases and servers. He studied Computer Science at the University of Kent and specialises in open-source web technologies.

Ben’s career began in the charity sector. In 2005 he developed AskCharity, a platform used by over 4,000 journalists from press and media outlets such as the BBC, Sky, ITV and The Guardian. He has worked on a wide variety of good-cause project websites – from volunteering and anti-bullying to refugee mentoring – and has also helped build CSR solutions for clients including EE and the Cabinet Office.

For several years, Ben developed and maintained business-critical web services for the Dixons Carphone Group, used across their retail stores nationwide.

These days Ben is focused on projects with a positive impact in science, health the environment and animal welfare – typically building accessible, green-hosted websites. He is also supporting the Mike Hudson Foundation in rolling out Knowbot, an AI tool for non-profits.
