We are a team of designers, writers and technologists working with associates from science, health and education.

Director

Anne is a designer, educator and writer with 20+ years' experience in design communications. She studied Typography & Graphic Communication at the University of Reading having previously taken A-levels in maths, biology, chemistry and art, then expecting to follow her family's scientific career path.

Anne worked for leading London design agencies before setting up O-SB Design in 2001. She founded Design Science a decade later, having grown aware of the lack of communication design being applied in science, healthcare and education.

Anne has lectured at the Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martins, UCL, Imperial College, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the British Science Association, the British Library and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust; as well as abroad at Konstfack University in Stockholm; SCI:COM in Ireland, the Goethe Institute in Krakow and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

Anne is a Project Monitor for Wellcome Trust’s Inspiring Science Fund. She is author of The New Handmade Graphics (RotoVision 2003), a book about graphic designers mixing analogue with digital processes or materials as a way of removing or reducing their dependence on the computer. She has written for Eye magazine, Phaidon, Cheltenham Science Festival, Wellcome Trust, the British Science Association and the British Council.
